Chinese locomotive maker nabs big deal from Turkey

Updated: 2009-11-02 14:55 CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Company Limited (ZELC) announced it would transfer light rail vehicles worth 350 million yuan ($51.26 million) as of April 2012 to Izmir, Turkey's third most populous city, xinhuanet.com reported Sunday. European countries have very strict requirements on safety, comfort, energy-saving, and environmentally-friendliness of rail locomotives, according to Han Jun, the company's publicity officer.
ZELC was founded in 1936 and manufactured China's first main line electric locomotive in 1958. |
