Villagers beg for mercy for woman who killed son

More than 300 villagers from Panwan village, Henan province, recently signed a petition, asking judges to show leniency to a woman on trial for killing her unfilial son.

Wang Guirong, 63, beat her 38-year-old son, Yin Shengli, to death with an iron rod on Oct 2 before surrendering to the police. Villagers said Yin was "an evil man" who often fought with residents of the village and destroyed their property.

The court is yet to deliver a verdict.
