Dog owner chooses to kill pet over leaving it

A woman in her 20s who was going abroad took her dog to be put down in a pet hospital in Dalian, Liaoning province last week.

She said she would not be able to care for the animal.

"I'd rather kill it in a painless way than abandon it on the street," she said.

To her dismay, the vet, surnamed Jiang, turned down her request to kill her dog.

Jiang advised the woman and other young pet owners of her age not to keep animals on impulse but take responsibility for the lives of such creatures once they decided to rear them.
