Slaughtered cobra springs back to life, bites butcher

A man who slaughters snakes for a living was stunned when a cobra, whose head he had chopped off just minutes ago, sprung to life and bit his hand in Haikou, capital of Hainan province, on Monday.

Xue, 58, who has been slaughtering snakes for more than a decade, said he had severed the 1-m cobra's head 10 minutes before it bit him.

Xue rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors managed to squeeze out all the poison just in time.
