Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Kazakhstan counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev on Saturday afternoon attended the completion ceremony of a gas pipeline connecting the Central Asian country and China.

The pipeline is part of the total 1,833-kilometre-long (1,139-mile) Turkmenistan-China pipeline which also stretches through Uzbekistan into western China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
Hu, on a working visit to Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan from December 12 to 14, arrived in Astana on Saturday afternoon.
He held talks with Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev late this afternoon on bilateral ties and other issues and will fly to Turkmenistan tomorrow.
Hu will join the heads of three Central Asian countries, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, in attending the official opening ceremony of the China-Central Asian gas pipeline during his two-day stay in Turkmenistan.
