China's Spring Festival travel peak season, or "chun yun" in Chinese, starts on Saturday, chinanews.com.cn reported today, citing the Ministry of Railways.
The number of peak season travelers this year would hit more than 2.5 billion, an increase of 7.7 percent from the previous year, Liu Tienan, vice-director of the National Development and Reform Commission predicted.
The traditional Chinese Spring Festival will fall on February 14 this year. The chun yun will last 40 days until March 10.
