BEIJING - China and Afghanistan undertook to enhance cooperation in meeting the challenges of all forms terrorism, extremism, separatism and organized crime, according to a joint statement issued here Thursday.

According to the statement, the two countries agreed to deepen cooperation in human resources, and "will intensify exchanges and cooperation between governments and legislatures and at local government level, and promote communication and exchanges between journalists, academics, colleges and enterprises."
The two sides also agreed to strengthen coordination and cooperation in international and regional organizations and continue their contacts and coordination on the reform of UN Security Council and other important issues.
At the invitation of Chinese President Hu Jintao, Karzai paid the three-day state visit to China from March 23. During the visit, President Hu held talks with Karzai, and Chairman Wu Bangguo of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and Premier Wen Jiabao met with the Afghan president.
