CHENGDU - Tap water supply in Chengdu City, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, returned to normal Saturday with polluting garbage in a river removed, local authorities said.

The garbage was all fished up Saturday morning. The latest tests showed the water quality met drinking standards, a spokesman with Chengdu water resources department said.
Water supply began to resume at 11 pm Friday, according to a previous statement from the department.
