278 die in May Day holiday road accidents in China

BEIJING - A total of 808 road accidents during China's three-day Labor Day holidays from May 1 to 3 killed 278 people and injured 973 others, the Ministry of Public Security said Tuesday.
The number of accidents dropped 59.6 percent, or 1,193 cases, compared with last year while the death toll fell 50.8 percent, or 287, a statement on the ministry's website said.
