"We are interested in selling iPad tablet PCs in China," said Wang Jianzhou, chairman of China Mobile, also the world's largest mobile carrier by the number of users, at a forum in east China's coastal city Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Expo.

This is the third time that Wang has expressed his company's interest in bringing Apple's iPad to China after he made such remarks in March and earlier this week.

China Unicom, a key rival of China Mobile, started to sell iPhones in China last October. Wang said his company was also talking to Apple about developing a next-generation iPhone that runs on TD-SCDMA, the home-grown third-generation (3G) mobile standard being used by China Mobile.

China Mobile has also made progress in exploring the e-book market by working with Hanwang, China's largest e-book maker, and other manufacturers to sell e-book readers using its 3G platform.
