BEIJING - Top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo said here Monday Sino-US ties are enjoying steadily increasing strategic significance and global influence.
When meeting with a US senate delegation, Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), said the second round of the strategic and economic dialogue between the two countries were fruitful and that overall bilateral ties have recently developed soundly.

He added the two sides should respect each other's core interests and concerns, properly handle differences and sensitive issues, and enhance bilateral contact.
The visiting delegation consists of several US senators, including chairperson of the Senate Intelligence Committee Dianne Feinstein.
Friendly exchange between the two legislatures play an invaluable role in promoting Sino-US ties' steady and healthy development, Wu said.
Wu called on the delegates to maintain their efforts to facilitate contact between the two legislative bodies to contribute to the bilateral relationship.
Feinstein said she hopes to make active efforts to advance communication and exchange between the two legislatures and cement US-China cooperation.
As members of the US Congress are greatly interested in China, they hope to learn more about China and advance bilateral cooperation, Feinstein said.
The US-China relationship has become the most important bilateral relationship in the world, she said.
Wu and the delegates also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
