The African kingdom of Lesotho signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in Shanghai on August 23 with Touchroad, an international holding group, for a strategic co-operation.

"The MOU aims to promote trade and exchanges of culture and tourism with China," said Popane Lebesa, minister of Trade & Industry, Co-operatives & Marketing, at the Lesotho-China Investment Forum which closed August 24.

The two-day forum, with the first section in Shanghai and the second in Hangzhou, capital city of Zhejiang province, is hosted by the Government of Lesotho and Touchroad.

In order to push forward the investment and trade with China, Lesotho sent a delegation led by Lebesa and Lebohang Nts'inyi, minister of Tourism, Environment & Culture of Lesotho to the ongoing World Expo to seek co-operation opportunities with local enterprises.

During the forum, delegation members from more than 30 companies from Lesotho held talks with 50 Chinese enterprises about co-operation with some having signed letters of intent, said Touchroad President He Liehui.

Lebesa said co-operation can be conducted in the fields of electronics, telecommunications, computers, mining and housing-building industries.

"Investment opportunities in these spheres are very wide," said the minister.
