BEIJING - Some foreign leaders will attend the opening ceremony of the Shanghai World Expo scheduled for April 30, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said here Thursday.
The foreign leaders will attend the ceremony while on their visits to China, Jiang told a regular press conference.
Some foreign politicians taking part in Expo-related activities will also attend the opening ceremony, she added.
The Shanghai World Expo will open May 1 and continue for six months. It will be the largest world exhibition and is expected to attract 70 million visitors from home and abroad.
Exhibitions from 192 countries and 50 international organizations will be on display at the Expo.
"We warmly welcome foreign leaders and people to visit the Expo and China," Jiang said.
