China to reinforce partnership with Brazil

BRASILIA - China is willing to work together with Brazil to reinforce and enrich the China-Brazil strategic partnership, a Chinese special envoy said here Saturday.

China has always attached great importance to its ties with Brazil from a strategic and long-term perspective, said Chinese Minister of Water Resources Chen Lei, who was here to attend Brazil's presidential handover ceremony as an envoy of Chinese President Hu Jintao.

Chen met with Brazil's new president Dilma Rousseff, who was sworn in as Brazil's first female president on Saturday.

Rousseff said the Brazil-China strategic partnership is maturing and there is great potential for mutual benefit cooperation between the two countries.

She said the new Brazilian government will prioritize the development of its ties with China in its diplomatic policies.

Moreover, Brazil is willing to work together with China to further reinforce and enrich its cooperation with China in various fields, unceasingly deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries, and enhance the well-being of the two peoples, Rousseff said.
