SHANGHAI - A Shanghai man died Sunday morning after jumping off a subway platform and being struck by a moving subway car, local police said.

According to eyewitness accounts and footage from the subway station's security cameras, a man jumped onto the tracks at the Yishan Road subway station at 6:45 am. He was hit by a train approaching the station and died after being rushed to a local hospital.

Police have not been able to identify the man, but initial probes indicate that the death was a suicide.
