Pipe burst cuts water supplies in NE China city

SHENYANG - A burst water pipe in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning province, has disrupted tap water supplies for at least 10,000 people Friday.
A main tap water pipeline burst in Dongling District at 6 am, cutting supplies to 31 residential compounds, a spokesman with the local water company said.
He said the cause of the burst was still under investigation.
Notices the company posted in affected communities said it could take two days to fix the pipe.
The incident has triggered panic buying of bottled water at supermarkets in Dongling.
