XI'AN - Thirty-two people have been confirmed dead following a rain-triggered landslide on Saturday in Northwest China's Shaanxi province, according to the local rescue headquarters on Thursday evening.
Rescuers recovered the last missing body on Tuesday afternoon, which ended rescue efforts and brought the final death toll to 32, said a spokesperson with the headquarters.
The landslide occurred around 2 pm on Saturday, burying a brick factory and destroying part of a ceramics plant in Baqiao, a suburban district in the provincial capital of Xi'an.
Three successive landslides occurred due to rains on Sunday, which briefly halted rescue work.
