NANJING - Eleven workers were confirmed dead and one remained missing after melted iron spilled over a refining furnace Wednesday morning in east China's Jiangsu Province.
Another worker was injured after the accident occurred at around 11:45 am at the Nanjing Iron and Steel Group Co. Ltd., a company spokesman said, adding that the injury was not life threatening.
Thirteen workers were preparing at the No.5 furnace for the shutdown of the furnace, when the accident occurred, according to the spokesman.
The cause of the accident is being investigated. The search for the missing worker is underway.
