BEIJING - Chinese Communist Party's (CPC's) publicity chief said Wednesday the Party should improve its cultural theory system to guide the nation's building of socialist culture.
Liu Yunshan, head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, told a seminar that the sixth plenary session of the CPC's 17th Central Committee had decided to promote the influence of socialist culture and the Party should provide theoretical guidance.
The seminar was held to mark the publication of a book that includes major comments on the Party's cultural theory building, which were made by Chinese leaders including Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin, and Hu Jintao.
Liu asked all Party organizations and members to carefully study the view points included in the book as "authoritative teaching materials for the Party's cultural theory."
Convened in October 2011, the sixth plenary session of the CPC's 17th Central Committee adopted a guideline that is aimed at boosting China's soft power and maintaining cultural security.
