BEIJING - Chinese government will work to promote professional ethics in artistic circles, according to a national outline for cultural reform and development for the 2011-2015 period issued on Wednesday.
The outline called on artists to "cherish their social responsibilities" and promote outstanding cultural achievements.
Artists and other cultural industry workers should "resolutely oppose" academic dishonesty and vulgar content in the cultural marketplace, the outline said.
According to the outline, the government will make further efforts to seek out and support local-level artists, especially the inheritors of China's intangible cultural heritage.
The Outline for the 12th Five-Year Program (2011-2015) on Cultural Reform and Development, issued by the general offices of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council, specifies the guiding principles, major goals and key aspects of the development of China's cultural industry during the period.
