Drug trafficker suspected of killing cop nabbed

KUNMING - A drug trafficker involved in a police killing on Thursday was captured Friday in southwest China's Yunnan Province, local police said.
Around 8:40 Friday morning, police surrounded and arrested the drug trafficker, surnamed Pan, according to authorities with the police bureau of the Dai Autonomous Prefecture of Xishuangbanna in Yunnan.
On Thursday afternoon, a group of drug traffickers shot at police who were attempting to apprehend them. One officer was killed and one passerby was injured.
Police shot and killed one drug trafficker, who was resisting arrest, and arrested another three people carrying 48 kilograms of drugs and a smuggled pistol. Pan evaded arrest.
As of Friday afternoon, the injured passerby was no longer in life-threatening condition following emergency medical treatment.
