Sports stadium ready for big events

The construction of the main stadium for the 23rd Shandong Provincial Sports Meeting, which will be held in 2014, is almost completed.

The stadium, which is situated in Beihu new district in Jining city, has seating capacity for more than 30,000. It is one of the major projects in Jining's urban planning.

The whole project includes a stadium, a gymnasium, a swimming pool and multiple outdoor sports fields. It is expected to be put in to trial operation in 2013.

The construction of the media center for the sports event is also in full swing. Designed by the German-based GMP Architects in the shape of an ancient Chinese coin, it has a total construction area of 178,000 square meters.

It is expected that the roof will be completed by the end of this year.
