Confuciu
There are plentiful resources in Jining that is an important base of cereal, cotton, oil and characteristic agricultural products.
The Beijing-Guangzhou Grand Channel, Beijing-Fuzhou Speedway Beijing-Shanghai Railway and Beijing-Jiulong Railway run through the city from north to south while Yanzhou-Shijiazhuang Railway and Rizhao-Dongming Speedway do so from east to west.
Situated in the south of Shandong province, Jining- the city well-known as "the hometown of Confucius and Mencius and the metropolis along the Grand Canal", is located in the fringe zone of four provinces: Jiangsu province, Shandong province, Henan province and Anhui province
Jining has a number of famous cultural relic sites. The Confucian Mansion, Confucian Temple and the Cemetery of Confucian Family were chosen by UNESCO as a site of world cultural heritage in 1994.
In ancient times, the opening and flourishing of the Grand Canal turned Jining into a communication hub, a center for a large number of transport boats and vehicles. The culture of Jining integrates the characteristics of both the South and North China.
