Authorities detain senior executives for NE China fire
Two senior executives of Jilin Baoyuanfeng Poultry Company were arrested in an investigation of a fire that killed 120 people in Dehui, Northeast China's Jilin province.
The company's president, Jia Yushan, and manager, Zhang Yushen, were held in custody. Corporate accounts have been frozen, according to a news briefing held on Thursday, Xinhua reported.
The deadly accident occurred early Monday at a poultry slaughterhouse owned by the company, sparking public concerns over workplace safety.
A State Council investigation team, led by the head of the State Administration of Work Safety, Yang Dongliang, was set up to fully probe the cause of the accident.
