NANNING - Typhoon Trami, the 12th typhoon to hit China this year, has killed one person and affected 125,700 people in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, local authorities said on Sunday.
As of 4:40 pm on Saturday, local governments have relocated over 2,900 people to avoid possible risks and mitigate the effects of geological disasters, said the disaster relief office of the regional civil affairs department.
Trami brought rainstorms to Guangxi, toppled 325 rooms of 189 households and seriously damaged another 533 rooms of 303 households.
It also affected about 6,170 hectares of farmland in the region.
Direct economic losses were estimated at about 25.29 million yuan (about $4.13 million).
Rainstorms brought by Typhoon Trami have also swept Zhejiang and Fujian provinces, affecting 1.4 million people and forcing the relocation of 351,000, the Ministry of Civil Affairs said on Friday.
