The construction of an inter-city rail line linking Beijing to Zhangjiakou, Hebei province will begin at the end of this year and result in a 60-minute commute between the two cities, Xinhua News Agency reported on Monday.
The inter-city train, which will be able to reach speeds of up to 350 km per hour, will service three stations along the 174-km line before arriving at Zhangjiakou.
The line will help Zhangjiakou merge more fully into the "capital's economic circle", and will also greatly reduce cargo costs.
