Wuhan, capital of Hubei province, is applying for 72-hour visa-free visitation for foreigners, Hubei Daily reported on Tuesday.
Currently, foreign visitors can enjoy a 72-hour visa-free stay in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Chongqing.
With the policy, visitors can shop, go sightseeing, or do business within 72 hours in these cities without a transit visa.
The news was released during the executive meeting of Wuhan, aiming to promote the city's tourism. In 2010, Wuhan Tianhe Airport received 340,000 foreign visitors, and the number doubled in 2012, the report said.
