A high people's court in Guangdong province has rejected an appeal from Zhu Siyi, the former National People's Congress deputy who was found guilty of offering bribes, the Southern Metropolis Daily reports.
Zhu, who was also the former president of an energy company in Shaoguan, Guangdong province, was convicted of offering bribes worth 2.2 million yuan ($361,000) to Ye Shuyang, former chief of Shaoguan Public Security Bureau, and Yang Chengyong, former deputy director of the personnel affairs office for the Guangdong NPC standing committee, according to the Guangdong Provincial High People's Court.
Zhu, who served as a deputy official to the NPC from 2007 to 2008, was sentenced to 16 years in prison by the Heyuan Intermediate People��s Court in September 2011.
