The Nanjing city environmental protection bureau may use its geographical setting to build ventilation corridors to tackle smog.
A local newspaper reported that the bureau could consider curbing the height of tall buildings to allow winds from the Yangtze River pass unobstructed through the city.
"The bureau hasn't put forward such plans, but the report in the newspaper provided a possible solution that is worth researching and discussing," Qian Feng, deputy director of the bureau, said.
