BEIJING - China is offering aid in the form of tents and blankets to the Philippines in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said here on Wednesday.
China will closely follow developments of its neighbor and offer humanitarian aid within its capacity, Qin Gang told a daily news briefing.
The material aid will help several thousands of people in typhoon-devastated regions, Qin said.
"China is carrying out its international humanitarian obligations," Qin said, adding China itself is suffering the effects of super typhoon Haiyan.
The death toll in the Philippines has risen to 2,275, a senior Philippine government official from National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Wednesday.
