The Chinese embassy in Japan launched the voluntary registration for Chinese nationals living in Japan in early November in case of emergency, according to the embassy.
A statement on the website of the embassy said that in order to offer timely assistance to Chinese nationals in major emergencies and fully protect their security and interests, the embassy decided to carry out a voluntary registration targeting Chinese nationals in Japan starting from Nov 8.
Chinese nationals can get registration forms either on the official website or at the embassy's visa office. The completed forms can be submitted through the office window, fax, email and letter, according to the embassy statement.
The embassy noted that providing consular protection for Chinese nationals abroad is the key duty of Chinese embassies and consulates and called for the active participation of Chinese nationals in the voluntary registration.
