An official in charge of student recruitment at Renmin University of China is under investigation for alleged wrongdoing at work, a Beijing newspaper The Mirror reported on Wednesday.
The official, Cai Rongsheng, was intercepted in Shenzhen as he was leaving for Canada with a counterfeit passport, and he allegedly confessed to taking bribes in student recruiting, which involved hundreds of millions of yuan, the report said.
The report also said the university president’s former secretary, Hu Juan, was also dismissed from her post and was ordered to assist the investigation.
The media officer at the university said they just learned about the case from the Internet and didn’t get any formal notification about it.
The university will release information as soon as they get official notification of it.
