Large Medium SmallA female farmer in Guyuan county, Hebei province, worked tirelessly to plant trees to protect Beijing from wind-borne sand, China News Service reported on Thursday.
Since 2002, Wang Wenhua, 57, a farmer and village leader in Zhenzigou, led villagers to plant trees covering 1,400 hectares on what had been barren mountains.
The effort helped secure the mountain soil.
