Organic products imported to China must be in accord with Chinese regulations and national standard, according to a revision of the regulation on organic product certification by the country's top quality watchdog on Friday.

The revision, to be enacted from April 1, 2014, states that imported organic products from countries that do not have a signed memorandum with China must be in accord with China's regulations and Chinese national standard on such products.

The revision also states that the nation will push for a unified system on organic product certification, including a unified standard and a unified certification mark.

The country will establish an alert system for organic products, and certification authorities must issue the alert on organic products after receiving consumer complaints and media feedback, according to the new regulation.
