University offers free online courses in Shanghai

Two courses with leading professors as lecturers are available at the worldwide online free courses platform Coursera, Shanghai Jiao Tong University announced on Monday.

From this month, the two courses, The Journey of Mathematics, and Traditional Chinese Medicine and Chinese Culture, can be viewed at Coursera, a US-based website offering free online courses from around the world.

On the math course, students can learn the core concepts of mathematical philosophy, while on the traditional Chinese medicine course they will master the basic concepts, knowledge and thoughts on TCM and also become familiar with its inherent Chinese culture. These courses are taught in Mandarin, with English subtitles.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University said it is planning to develop more online courses.
