Asia's longest covered bridge, destroyed by fire, cannot be repaired, xinhuanet.com reported on Dec 5.
Massive fire ripped through the 303-meter wooden structure on Nov 28, and local authorities now plan to rebuild it, the report said.
The Fengyu Bridge, which ran across the Apeng River in Chongqing, is famous for its traditional beauty topped by a pagoda-style roof.
The report also said the cause of the fire was under investigation.
