Telecom giant ZTE Corp announced on Dec 31 that it has undergone organizational changes and will focus on three pillars in 2014; businesses-operators, mobile devices and enterprise businesses.
ZTE Mobile Devices will operate as an independent unit of the company, to be headed by Zeng Xuezhong, 39, who is executive vice-president of ZTE, according to a press release sent to China Daily.
He Shiyou, the former head of ZTE's terminal business, will remain as an executive director of ZTE Corp.
Pang Shengqing, senior vice-president of ZTE, has been appointed as head of ZTE’s enterprise business.
"ZTE anticipates that rising demand for cloud computing, big data, smart city and the Internet of Things will help drive growth in the company’s enterprise business," the statement said.
When it comes to ZTE's traditional telecom equipment business to worldwide operators, the company said it will intensify its focus on key areas of higher profitability and strive for increased efficiency by adopting a reduced management structure.
Since China issued 4G licenses to telecom carriers in December, 4G has been a hot topic for various telecom equipment vendors. ZTE said it aims to become a market leader in 4G and will pursue game changing breakthroughs in development of 4G equipment, semiconductors and devices.
