Huawei pledges 5,500 jobs in Europe

China's tele-communication giant Huawei pledged again to create 5,500 new jobs in Europe by 2017 with the continent becoming the company's top overseas growth contributor in 2013.

Leo Sun, President of Huawei's European Public Affairs and Communcation Office based in Brussels said on Monday European region has become the top business contributor of Huawai, with its group revenue rising up to 39.6 billion US dolllar in 2013.

"Huawei had a wonderful 2013. Our group still maintains a stable growth of 8 percent in the global basis and the group revenue rises up to 39.6 billion USD with operating profit rate growing at 12 percent," Sun addressed its Chinese New Year celebration on Monday in Brussels.

Sun pledged that Huawei will create 5,500 new jobs by 2017 and now it has employed more than 6,000 Europeans. And in 2013, its purchase from Europe has reached 3.4 billion US dollar.

Sun said in Europe, Huawei keeps its commitment to increase the business and investment simultaneously and in 2013, Huawei’s European performance is the best for the group's overseas operations.

"We will continue to maintain a strategic partnership with European customers to keep their satisfaction," said Sun.
