More high-end foreign brands have entered the Guangzhou market over the first three months of the year because of enhanced commercial facilities in the city, according to an industrial report.

An improved commercial environment and upgraded urban transportation facilities in the capital of Guangdong province have helped attract the foreign brands, said Lin Guodong, managing director of Colliers International (South China), a leading international property services provider.

Companies such as GAP and Starbucks have moved to the booming commercial district of Panyu, which is now connected with downtown Guangzhou by two subway lines.

The report also said more Chinese property developers and investors have boosted their presence overseas by buying and building properties.

"The stronger yuan and a lower loan interest rate in some developed countries have played a major role in allowing Chinese developers and investors to invest overseas," Lin said.
