Zhengzhou has put together an armed patrol police team to ensure social safety, Zhengzhou Evening News reported on Tuesday.
Equipped with around 30 new emergency vehicles, the SWAT members are capable of arriving on the scene of an incident within five minutes, according to the Zhengzhou public security bureau.
The team is available for security and anti-crime operations, the police said.
The city's violent crime rate has decreased by 15 percent, and robberies have declined 20 percent since the city formed the SWAT team in March, the report said.
