Li Daqiu, former vice-chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region's political advisory body, has been charged with bribery.

The charge was brought by Yanbian Autonomous Prefecture People's Procuratorate in Jilin province, according to the Supreme People's Procuratorate on Tuesday.

The prosecuting department has filed the charge to Yanbian intermediate court in Jilin and the court hearing will be held later.

The Yanbian prosecution department said that when Li served as Party chief in Hezhou and as deputy head of Guangxi Zhuang between 2008 and 2012, he used his position to help others obtain "great benefits" and accepted many bribes.

In July 2013, he was placed under investigation by the top anti-graft authority.
