A university library has set up a special space for students to meditate or practice zazen, according to Yangtze Evening News.
The newly-designed information sharing space of the library at Nanjing University of Science and Technology has been divided into four zones, including a multimedia, interactive, seminar, and innovation space.
Located on the 5th floor and part of a total area of 500 square meters, the mediation space is simply furnished, with only desks, chairs and some futons.
Meditation is helpful in school life and practices such as writing a thesis, said curator Zhang Xiaobing.
A similar space involves a stand-only studying area, which is next to windows and allows students to look outside.
Design of the library is set to help students develop new ideas and technologies as well as to share information and communicate ideas, Zhang added.
