NANCHANG - A new human H7N9 avian flu case has been reported in east China's Jiangxi province on Sunday, after three human infections of the virus were confirmed in the province on Saturday.

The new patient is a 55-year-old woman, who is in critical condition at a hospital in Nanchang, said the provincial health and family planning commission.

Sporadic human H7N9 cases have recently been reported in other places of the country.

On Saturday, the country reported six human H7N9 cases -- three in Jiangxi, one in Shandong, Hunan and Shanghai each, according to local health authorities.

H7N9, a bird flu strain most likely to strike in winter and spring, was first reported to have infected humans in China in March 2013.
