MACAO: President Hu Jintao left Macao Sunday afternoon after a two-day tour to the Special Administrative Region (SAR).
Hu, also general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and chairman of the Central Military Commission, arrived here on Saturday.
During his stay, Hu attended a celebration gathering marking the 10th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland and the swearing-in ceremony of Macao SAR Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On and principal officials of the third-term government of the Macao SAR.
The president met on separate occasions with chief executives of the Hong Kong and Macao SARs and principal officials of the two SAR governments as well as celebrities from all walks of life in Macao.
Hu also inspected the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Garrison Troops stationed in Macao, attended the opening ceremony of the Macao Science Center and the ground-breaking ceremony of the University of Macao's new campus on Hengqin Island, and visited a local family and an incineration plant.
