20.85 million yuan in donations

The Chinese Red Cross Foundation (CRCF) has received 20.85 million yuan in donations and another 16.8 million yuan of promised funds as of 5 p.m. Saturday.

160 tons of relief supplies flown to Yushu

A total of 160 tons of relief supplies including more than 1,000 tents were flown urgently in eight flights to Yushu County, northwest China's Qinghai Province, April 17, 2010 before the forecasted middle-class storm comes.

1,200 rescued by soldiers, police

Soldiers from the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and armed police have rescued 1,200 people and treated more than 8,700 injured in the quake zone as of 12:00 a.m. Saturday, according to PLA quake-relief headquarters.

1,583 medical staff

So far 1,583 staff of 14 medical teams from around the country have participated in rescue work in quake-hit Yushu. They have treated 4,910 people injured by the quake, 4,200 of which have left the hospital according to CCTV reports.

45,000 tents

About 45,000 tents, 160,000 cotton overcoats and 200,000 quilts had been arranged for the quake zone in Yushu, Qinghai from across China by 15:00 April 17, according to the Ministry of Civil Affairs. About 250 tons of instant food had arrived in the quake zone by 15:00 April 17.

Shelters for 80,000 to 100,000 displaced people

Locations for temporary shelters have been selected to accommodate 80,000 to 100,000 people displaced by the quake, according to the Ministry of Land and Resources.

10 million yuan funds to repair roads

The Ministry of Transport has earmarked 10 million yuan in emergency funds to repair the roads damaged by the quake in Yushu, Qinghai, according to Shanghai-based Dragon TV.
