HONG KONG - Hong Kong's donors had contributed over 100 million HK dollars (US$12.9 million) for earthquake victims in northwestern China's Qinghai Province via the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong, a senior official with the Liaison Office said Friday.

Li Gang, deputy head of the Liaison Office, said continuous donations from Hong Kong citizens and charity organizations showed their care and love to victims in the quake-hit area.

The official made his remarks at a ceremony to receive a donation of 600,000 HK dollars (US$77,121) from the Hong Kong Printers Association.

Li expressed his gratitude towards the Hong Kong Printers Association, promising to transfer the donation and their care to the quake-hit region as soon as possible.

On April 14, the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yushu in Qinghai Province was hit by a 7.1-magnitude quake. The earthquake left at least 2,200 people dead and more than 100,000 homeless.
