Serling Tso Lake

Nine holy lakes in Tibet

Legends say a devil called Serling used to live in the forests west of Lhasa in Tohlung Dechen County. Each day he would consume millions of souls until he was found by Padmasambhava on his quest to subdue monsters. Padmasambhava pursued the monster that fled from the forest to a lake south of Changtang. The master decreed that Serling shall never leave this lake and forever devoutly repent. Therefore this lake is named "Serling Tso Lake" means "Serling Devil Lake".
