Another oil storage tank caught fire and exploded at a chemical plant in Fujian province, just 40 hours after earlier explosions, authorities said on Wednesday.

The tank, which stored nearly 1,500 tons of the liquid hydrocarbon xylene, caught fire and exploded on Wednesday morning, according to the Zhangzhou fire department.

On Monday evening, oil from a leak at Tenglong Aromatic Hydrocarbon (Zhangzhou) Co caught fire. That led to explosions of three nearby storage tanks. The company is located on the city's Gulei Peninsula.
