At present there are 17 countries that have established cooperative relationship with China in inter-country adoption. These countries are: USA, Canada, UK, France, Spain, Italy, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. Only citizens of these countries can adopt children from China through the following procedures:
Requirements for foreign adopters and adoptees

Both parents must be between the ages of 30 and 50. Those couples who apply to adopt a special needs child must be between the ages of 30 and 55.
Requirements for post-placement reports

Adoption agencies should prepare post-placement reports for each adopted child in accordance with the intervals and frequency required by the China Center for Children's Welfare and Adoption (CCCWA).
Suspension and withdrawal of the adoption procedure

If foreign adopters want to suspend the adoption procedure, they shall inform the China Centre for Children's Welfare and Adoption(CCCWA) through foreign governments or adoption organization that have submitted materials for them.
