A group Han Dynasty (206BC-AD220) style wedding took place at the Youyang Peach Blossom Land, in Chongqing during the Labor Day Festival on May 2, 2014. 52
couples made up of Chinese and foreigners attended the ceremony.
The traditional Han wedding ceremony dates back to the Zhou Dynasty (1046-771 BC), and includes the rites of Woguan (washing hands with flowing water), Tonglao (eating one piece of meat), Hejin (drinking cross-cupped wine), Baitang (worship of heaven and earth) and Jiefa (knotting the hair up). The ceremony is considered to be a quintessential Chinese rite.
